🛟 Safety Training for Swim Coaches

3-Hour Course

The Safety Training for Swim Coaches course helps fulfill the Coaches Safety Education requirement for USA Swimming and meets the water safety requirements for the YMCA of the USA Swim Coach Certification.

This course prepares coaches to recognize, prevent, and respond to life-threatening and potentially hazardous situations in and around the water. Topics covered include:

  • Water safety awareness and risk prevention

  • Warm-up and workout procedures

  • Racing start safety

  • Event safety and emergency planning

  • Electrical, weather, and environmental hazard management

  • Handling medical conditions and injuries, including first aid procedures

Certification Requirements:
To receive your certification, you must successfully complete the American Red Cross online coursework and pass the in-water skills assessment.

Certification Validity:
Certification is valid for 2 years.

Prerequisites

  • Participants must be at least 15 years old
  • Participants must be comfortable in chest-deep water, at minimum
  • Must complete the 2.5 Hour Online Safety Training for Swim Coaches Coursework
